There's a big difference between strawberries you buy in grocery stores and those that are picked fresh sweet and fully ripe. That is one of the best reason we grow them on Dark Water Ranch. We use the spaced-row system on agri-frabic and we think it's better because it requires less pruning and helps to eliminate weeding and makes picking berries easier.
Strawberries aren’t true berries, like blueberries or even grapes. Technically, a berry has its seeds on the inside. And, to be exact, each seed on a strawberry is considered by botanists to be its own separate fruit.
Strawberries are actually members of the rose family.
To use fresh strawberries, wash them and cut the stem away. However, if you plan to keep them in the fridge for a few days, wait until right before you eat them to wash them. The reason for this is rinsing them speeds up spoiling. This is another reason we choose to grow our berries using the agri-fabric because the berries stay cleaner and healthier since they dont touch the ground itself.
